The NCAA divides the year into four different recruiting periods that regulate how and when college coaches can recruit athletes.
January 1, 2025 - February 28, 2025
Coaches may have in-person contact with recruits and their parents.
Basketball Note:
Coaches can attend games and visit schools during this time.
March 1, 2025 - April 15, 2025
Coaches may watch recruits compete but cannot have in-person contact.
Basketball Note:
Coaches can attend AAU tournaments but cannot speak with players.
April 16, 2025 - May 31, 2025
Coaches may only have in-person contact with recruits on campus.
Basketball Note:
Campus visits are allowed, but coaches cannot scout off-campus.
June 1, 2025 - June 30, 2025
No in-person contact or evaluations. Communication limited to phone and email.
Basketball Note:
No in-person recruiting of any kind is permitted.
July 1, 2025 - August 31, 2025
Coaches may have in-person contact with recruits and their parents.
Basketball Note:
Summer leagues and camps are key evaluation opportunities.
September 1, 2025 - October 15, 2025
Coaches may watch recruits compete but cannot have in-person contact.
Basketball Note:
Fall showcases are important evaluation opportunities.
October 16, 2025 - November 30, 2025
Coaches may only have in-person contact with recruits on campus.
Basketball Note:
Early signing period typically occurs during this time.
December 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025
No in-person contact or evaluations. Communication limited to phone and email.
Basketball Note:
Occurs during final exams and holiday break.
November 8-15, 2025
First opportunity to sign a National Letter of Intent
April 15 - August 1, 2025
Main period for signing with NCAA schools
Before end of junior year
Required for Division I and II athletes
July 1, 2025
Deadline for sending final transcripts to NCAA
